Can anyone recommend an NHS urologist for bladder/UTI symptoms in London?

Hello,

I hope someone can help. I've been suffering since June with UTI symptoms.

The lab results in June showed evidence of an infection but I've had two or perhaps three episodes since with no infection identified by the lab.

I'm worried about losing my job as I have to go off sick when these symptoms strike and quite frankly I feel almost suicidal when I have an episode because whatever "it" is, I can't get rid of it. I get some respite for a couple of months after antibiotics then it's back.

I heard about a doctor who specialises in this problem, James Malone-Lee, and I got a GP's referral to his clinic only to be told that they are not taking on any new NHS patients.

Does anyone else know of anyone on the NHS in London who is good? I would really appreciate your recommendations. Thanks

@Chrisinthemorning @soon2bejobless

Sorry, haven't been back to this thread in a while.

I saw a urologist called Ased Ali at the Spire Methley Park Hospital. He only charged £150 for the first consult and was able to use the info from my previous investigations so didn't really need to repeat anything. He's really down to earth and very understanding with lots of experience in managing CUTI.

Thank you. I have been referred locally (Yorkshire clinic) but not been seen yet and now regretting not asking to see Mr Ali as he sounds to specialise in what’s wrong with me. Will ring his secretary Tomorrow

I havent seen him, but I know many that have.. I have interstitial cystitis, which is horrific and at teams has made me suicidal,.. Professor malone believes that is caused by a deep seated infection that nhs tests cannot see as they only test your urine for 24_48 hours.. In reality it needs to be tested for 3 days at the least to see what bug it is and what antibiotics will treat it.. It's to do with the bladder lining and all sorts of complex things, I've had this for 12 years, and the only thing that has stopped any real pain is amitriptalyine as it blocks the nerve transmitters,.. I hope this helps, please feel free to ask me any questions x hope u r feeling better soon xx
