Right arm feels so heavy?

Opheliasgoldenwine · 10/01/2018 23:55

I feel fine but my right arm feels so heavy and I'm finding it really difficult to lift it, it's such an effort to lift it; is this something to consider booking a GP appointment for next week or is it probably nothing? TIA Smile

You need to call 111 now. It may turn out to be nothing. However it can be a sign of serious problems. Please call them.

My wrist works fine though it's just so heavy but no pain.

It started this evening though.

I would call 111 I’ve not heard of this symptom but they can run through the checklists and assess if it’s serious or not for you

stayathomegardener · 11/01/2018 00:07

Definitely call.

Christmascardqueen · 11/01/2018 00:11

better safe than sorry, just call.

hevonbu · 11/01/2018 04:18

I wonder what happened to OP?

F - face (drooping, lopsided when smiling)
A - arm weakness, numb, difficulty to raise arm
S - speech difficulty, slurred speech
T - time to call, "I think this is a stroke"

FAST

(From the American stroke association web page).

alltheworld · 11/01/2018 04:25

I thought of stroke. Hope op ok

highinthesky · 11/01/2018 04:45

Parasthesia can have a number of causes. I hope the OP’s ok...think the chances are she went to bed.

sadie9 · 11/01/2018 09:00

Were you doing a lot of typing or lifting, or using a mouse with the computer for a long time in the past few days?

Jinglebells99 · 11/01/2018 17:38

I hope you are okay.

hevonbu · 11/01/2018 18:21

I reported the thread to Mumsnet at around 4 this morning, so they've probably attended to it by now, one way or the other. Hope OP did decide to make that 111 call though.

Opheliasgoldenwine · 11/01/2018 20:03

Hi all,

I'm so grateful that you took time to reply to my thread; I was up with DD a lot and have been exhausted today, hence no reply so far.

My arm still feels a bit heavy but my leg felt heavy today too; I've put it down to extreme tiredness (joys of teething) but if it doesn't go away I will get it checked out.

Thanks all Smile

I didn't ring because 1) I was exhausted and 2) DP said I was overreacting and I didn't want to waste anyone's time.

I'm glad you came back to the thread. I was worried about you. Please do get it checked out, I'm sure you wouldn't be wasting anyone's time.

Opheliasgoldenwine · 11/01/2018 23:00

Thank you jingle Smile

You mentioned teething, maybe the arm sensation is from carrying the baby around a lot or wheeling the pram relentlessly backwards and forwards...that sure can mess up an arm!

hevonbu · 12/01/2018 02:19

Make your partner memorize the FAST acronym so he knows what to do.

Practice on this sentence, of it's suddenly impossible to say, and you start to slur a lot (and it's not from alcohol) it's time to call too. "She sells seashells on the seashore, and the shells she sells are seashells, I'm sure."

Glad to hear you're OK!
