No energy, no enthusiasm. What would you do?

I live a pretty idyllic life compared to some people. SAHM, kids at school, decent enough house and enough money.

So, why do I feel that my life's missing something.
I don't seem to have any enthusiasm for anything or much energy (unless it involves sitting in a chair in front of a computer).

Any thoughts would be most welcome.

You need to go out - every day - and do something - anything actually, it's the getting out of the house bit that matters. Could you do something nice for the community (e.g. set up a mums group)?

MrsLacking · 25/04/2007 18:41

Thanks, whomovedmychocolate.

The problem is, I haven't even got the energy for hobbies. I'm not sure I can cope with anything more demanding.

Might be worth checking your thyroid. Or do you think you might be depressed?

jalopy · 25/04/2007 18:42

Do you think you're depressed, mrslacking?

NoodleStroodle · 25/04/2007 18:43

I know how you feel and I used to be like this and sleep loads during the day but then I started a small part-time job and then gave it up and went to college part-time and the weird thing is, the more you do, the more energy you get. Exercise helps too. However I know that the hardest thing is to make that initial leap...

moondog · 25/04/2007 18:45

Go and do some work.
Lack of motivation not helped by stopping at home all day.
I have bags more energy and motivation since going back to work despite it being very tiring and taxing.

MrsLacking · 25/04/2007 18:54

Surfermum and jalopy - I don't think I'm depressed, but then I haven't ever been depressed, so I'm not sure I'd know, IYSWIM.
I guess I could get my thyroid checked out, though.

NoodleStroodle - sleeping during the day - all too easy, isn't it?

You and moondog have suggested work - it possibly is what I need longer term, some sort of structure.

At the moment I feel so flat that I think that would come over in a job interview.

MrsLacking - try it - you might surprise yourself, or perhaps some exercise, get the old endorphins working.

I also have an idyllic life, never have to work again, can play with my DD without ever having to worry about money/mortgage etc.

It's still bloody boring if you don't get out and do stuff. In fact I miss work sometimes.

Not much though
