1st one was ok, actually lighter then the ones pre DS4 so I was really chuffed.
Lasted 4-5 days like normal period but it took about 10 days to start properly with lots of spotting before hand.

This period has arrived 2 weeks after the 1st one finished (day 3 of it now) and it's bad...really really BAD.

I've never had aperiod this heavy before, and have used almost a whole pack of towels just today!

So could this be my first real period since DS4 was conceived and thats why is so heavy or is this the way it's going to be from now on??
Do I discount the 1st lighter than usual period as a freaky non-period....

God, I feel lke i'm bleeding to death.

My first one after DC2 was also HIDEOUS... luckily I still had half a pack of Maternity sanny pads! looked like there had been a murder in my bed the first morning!

Since then have had 2 and both have been normal. I think it is just our bodies getting back into gear.

LadyTophamHatt · 25/04/2007 19:43

So, do you think I should discount the first light period?
It was like a normla period, only a tiny bit lighter than usual.

I'm shock at how much I'm losing ATM, especially still 3 day into it.

I feel like shite too...

Sorry to be personal but, have you changed your contraception?

LadyTophamHatt · 25/04/2007 20:06

have you just finished breast feeding? I had a really heavy period just after I stopped and another about 2 weeks later, then it went back to normal...

Mine are much heavier since having babymonkey (2nd child) and now that I have a coil fitted too. I use lil-lets super plus extra and change it every hour for at least 2 of the days. I am also incredibly grumpy and have terrible pains, not far of what it was like when I was in labour with DD!!! (I didn't go all the way tho, had an emergency section at 6 cm dilated, so I'm sure it would have got worse!!). My doctor told me that it was quite normal to have heavier periods, partly because it was as tight up there anymore (charming!!!!). Bit crap really, isn't it? I don't have any advice, but just want you to know I'm there suffering with you LTH

LadyTophamHatt · 25/04/2007 20:24

Oh god...I bloody hope it's not like this every month.

I'm onto my second pack of pads today

Hah, all that bollocks about a period being half a egg cup worth of blood!

Maybe an eggcup ostrich, and make it a full one too. YUK!

Mine have actually got lighter, to the point that they have vanished. The pain however has got worse and worse.

LadyTophamHatt · 25/04/2007 20:28

thats a bit odd, I did actaully type "eggcup for an ostrich"

I even checked it..weird!

I think being low on iron can make you bleed more - not sure how this relates to being PP, also it sounds like the wrong way round ie being anaemic should be caused by, bot be casing, heavy loss. Just something that might be a factor esp if you were a bit low in pregnancy?

flightattendant · 25/04/2007 20:50

'Not be causing' even...my god what's going on with my spelling!!!
