Do I assume my operation is not going ahead?

I wonder if anyone can help?

I am due for surgery on Wednesday for prolapse repair. The news came out last week that all non urgent operations are to be cancelled until the end of the month.

Do I assume that mine will definitely not go ahead? I've not had a letter or phone call advising me either way so I'm a bit in limbo.
I haven't been able to contact anyone to get a straight answer, it's all been quite stressful as I've been waiting 4 years for this procedure, have arranged work cover and had to sort childcare arrangements and I'm just not sure what's happening now.

Can anyone shed any light on this for me? Is it an absolute blanket cancellation, regardless of whether I've actually received a letter or phone call?

It's not a blanket cancellation and the advice is that unless told otherwise to go in as planned. Some hospitals are affected more than others. Good luck with your operation and I hope all goes ahead as planned for you.

Oh, really? I was under the impression that all trusts had been ordered to cancel their surgeries?
Can I ask where you've read that advice? Only I've been frantically googling to find out what I need to do and all I can come up with is that the trusts have been ordered to cancel until the end of Jan

Thank you for taking the time to reply Lozzie Smile

It wouldn't be a blanket ban because of the way the different departments work. A Gynae surgeon won't be taken away from you to take out tonsils.
Best of luck with the prolapse op. The first six weeks might seem the cure is worse than the disease, but in the long run it'll be the best decision you ever made.

Thank you Sadie, I'm hoping it l goes to plan, thankfully I'm not having the mesh, but a biological graft, so hoping that it will be a success

I'm just wondering if your op went ahead and if so how are you doing? I hope all went well. X
