Cash healthcare plans sound amazing- is there a catch?

I'd never heard of cash healthcare plans until a friend mentioned claiming the money back on some physio she'd had and I feel like I've missed out on something and it's a total no-brainier. Or am I missing something?
Luckily I don't have any big medical issues but do wear contact lenses (£6pm) & have a spare pair of glasses, visit the dentist twice a year at £21 a time and hygienist at least once a year at £45 (gum issues should go more but can't always afford it) and that's without any occasional unforeseen expenses from sports related injuries (last year I had 3lots of physio @ £45 a visit Sad) . And that's without taking into account dh's dodgy back, dc might need braces, fillings etc etc. All of which fill me with dread as we don't have much disposable income.

And if these policies are so great, is there a price comparison site as I can't find one are there are literally hundreds of plans to choose from Shock

I had a quick Google (and a comparison site did pop-up) and it does seem too good to be true. I have a lot of health issues so any quote for me would be expensive but when hubby stops working I will lose the cover we pay £30+ a month to add me into so I might investigate it more then. I will be quite keen to stay private as the speed of appointments, better care, etc is worth it. I've had a few small procedures privately and the difference to the way the NHS treat you is staggering. I was traumatised for years after an NHS back op.

We’re with simply healthcare. It’s pretty good - a big of a pain to remember to get invoices for stuff but the process is quite straightforward. I’m not too sure of the ins and outs (it was my DHs doing) but I know we claim back for opticians stuff, dental, physiology etc. Think there’s a max limit but quite generous. Not sure about prescriptions (have to check with my DH....).

Allypally - I think the cash healthcare plans OP is talking about is where you pay a premium and they will refund you certain costs for healthcare. It doesn’t give you access to private healthcare - different companies and premiums for that! We have both the cash healthcare plans - simply healthcare and bupa for private healthcare.

Ahhhh I get it - you'd have to pay tons in to get the cost of private back lol. I'll try for a private quote when I need to or just pay as I go like I already do for dentist, etc.
