Ovarian cysts

New to MN and looking for some advice/suggestions as well as somewhere to post/vent. I'm having problems with reoccurring cysts on one of my ovaries which is currently under investigation before any form of treatment can be given (Drs have said it would most likely be surgery).

When I first had the stomach pains, it took numerous trips to the doctors and hospital over 3 weeks before anything was investigated and diagnosed. Since then, I've had more scans and more cysts have been found on the same ovary (new cysts increasing in size each time).

Since my last scan I've been in agony and painkillers aren't working, lack of sleep, feeling sick, unable to put weight on one leg because of the pain etc. Stomach's also really bloated and unable to sit/lay in any position and be comfy! I have another scan in a couple of weeks and just wondering if there's anything anyone can suggest until then? After the scan, I don't have a meeting with gynae for almost two months!

Getting slightly fed up as I've had numerous trips to the hospital and don't seem to be getting any further, in spite of how much pain I'm in!

Well it won’t be quick unless they think it’s “sinister” which it doesn’t sound like they do from what you’ve said.

I’m currently awaiting surgery to remove a large cyst and it looks as if it won’t be this month now thanks to NHS stopping non-urgent ops. To give you an idea of timescale, I first saw my GP in April regarding the pain. Ultrasound scan in June, repeat scan in Aug, gynae appointment in Oct, another scan in Dec and am still waiting. I’m in awful pain around my period mainly and am fed up of taking strong painkillers. I’m grateful that it’s getting sorted and understand the pressures but omg I’d be first in the queue to get it done privately if I had the cash!

Flowers for you. It’s miserable and worrisome. Make sure you’ve got some good painkillers from your gp.

The 'sinister' side is that I had my bloods done on a Friday, the Dr rang Monday am and hurried up by ultrasound to the Thursday. I was sent straight to A&E from the ultrasound and then admitted to the medical assessment unit the next day. Subsequent diagnosis of advanced ovarian cancer.

Take comfort from the delays, the long periods of time between appointments, the lack of urgency, the lack of concern. It's not that they (the NHS) don't care or that they're not doing their job, it's simply that you're not a priority because however crap you feel you're actually OK in the wider scheme of things.
