So... tmi alert. I am suffering with extremely heavy periods. Before my third child they were light to medium and no bother except for pmt. Them about a year ago I was convinced to Mireya coil. I put up with it for about six months but the periods were so heavy I had to have it out. I also had depression and anxiety and insomnia andwas v Ill. was thengiven cerezette which I've had in the past and was never a problem. Since then I've had periods every two weeks. Saw gp who tried to say was just adjusting to pill but then realisedbeen on it for six months so switched to another one. Have another period a week after last one soheavy not sure I can go to work tomorrow. Is it the pill? Could IUD have created problem in uterus - third baby a c section? Also bleedingafter sex. Mood swings. Can't take it help!

Hello Crazyhorse, did you tell your GP that you bleed after sex?

Abitlost2015 · 03/01/2018 00:28

Go back to gp and explain again, you should be referred for an ultrasound.

Hi kittikat I did but it ha s only happened at the end of a period at that time. This time it started after sex but has gone on and on. I have appointment on Thursday. From ur responses I guess they are looking for something? I have researched and see there are a host of causes from terrifying to common. Trying not to panic.!

I started to suffer from.horrendously heave periods when I was in my early 40s. Tried everything - the pill, Mirena etc but they just got worse and worse. Eventually I insisted on a referral to a gynaecology consultant (GP was very reluctant to refer) and it turned out I had a massive fibroid in my uterus.

I had the fibroid removed and my periods went back to normal.

I would ask for a referral if I were you.

I did ask gp but she blamed pill. Also refused to do an internal exam! I have booked to go back thurs after it's got so much worse thanks for support and advice

My GP was useless ax well and kept fobbinge off. Eventually I kept a log of how much I was bleeding, took it to another GP on the practice and asked for a gynaecology referral. I wish I'd insisted on that 2 years earlier. Good luck!

Go has said will test for pid and the will get scan and then refer? Why the delay? Does it cost them to refer?
