dd has had a flare up of prolonged eczema (redness, not itchy but a bit sore off and on) on the skin around one eye in places & now it has started on the other. went to the drs a few months ago who only prescribed putting zerobase cream on it (cheaper version of diprobase). can anyone recommend something to put on that might help. i am loathed to fight to get another dr appointment as i know from experience they don't like prescribing steroid for the face least of all area near the eyes. would much appreciate any tips, many thanks

what about dermol 500? its an antimicrobial emolient, you can shower with it and also
use as moisturiser.

A dr can prescribe a milder steroid than can be bought otc, 0.5% hydrocortisone. You still don’t want to use for long but good for a flare up.

How about asking for Aveeno and some hydrocortisone cream? HC far less potent than steroids.

I have this- it's horrible. I was advised to do two days of applying hydrocortisone cream followed by five days of protopic ointment. I think you might need a prescription for protopic but it worked and I haven't had as bad a flare up since then.

I used Dr Organics Manuka Honey Cream last year, after reading this blog www.luxlife-blog.com/2012/11/my-struggle-with-eye-eczema.html and I just loved it.

It completely sorted my peeling redness in a couple of applications (I keep buying it now to use as an eye make up remover), but some people (about 1 in 10 reviews) find it awful. It's under a tenner from Holland and Barrett, so you could try it on a small part of your daughter's eye, and if she's one of those it doesn't help, it's good for general use on yourself.

I had eyelid exzema flare ups each year and found that a touch of aveeno cream day and night eventually reduced the problem (took a while) but more importantly when it had gone, stopped it coming back.
Avoid touching the area with your bare fingers, apart from applying aveeno daily religiously.
