I almost certainly have UC based on abnormal blood and faecial calproctein test. I have to be referred for tests which I am terrified about and had already resigned myself to the fact I had this condition but where do I go from here? Will I still be able to eat/drink what I like? Will the diarrhoea and streaks of blood stop once I start meds? What are the side effects of meds? Will i still be able to work/Go out without worryingabout toilets? Will I start getting severe pain (I don't have any now). I cannot believe this. Was such a healthy person before all of this. I knew my "bug" in October was not just that. It went in stages sure but it lasted far too long.

Agree with Dotty entirely.

LEM I don't mean it to seem like I'm attacking the op, I'm genuinely concerned we are making the HA worse. Have you seen previous threads? I tried to help op christmas day.

I've never known it to be diagnosed by anything other than a colonoscopy

Hi Sienna

Glad you are feeling a bit better. Do you know what the calprotectin level was raised by? Just to throw my two pence worth in a couple of years ago I had strange bowel symptoms and had a calprotectin test. Both times I came back high. My gp told me I likely had crohns or uc.

I seen a gi consultant and had a colonoscopy and everything was absolutely normal. The consultant said lots of things can cause it to be raised and it can be as simple as ins even though ibs is said to not raise it if you believe what google tells you. He also said that the level it was raised to he knew it would be normal even before he performed the colonoscopy.

I hope this might reassure you a bit.x
