Lower back has seized, how to get moving again

It had to be this weekend :(

Has been gradually getting worse for the last couple of weeks, pain across the whole of the lower back, down right leg and into calf. Now I can’t stand up straight or walk easily, currently lying in bed wondering how the hell I’m going to cook tomorrow and finish everything today.

Yesterday I took paracetamol, ibruprofen and rubbed in volteral and it didn’t make any difference. What are my over the counter options? Can I get a muscle relaxant?
☹️

Ice pack (or frozen peas wrapped in a tea towel). Hope you feel better soon.

Get on all fours and rotated your hips in circles. As if you are in labour.

If you can manage it try to go for a swim despite the pain, I swear it helps me. Or lie on your back and gently hug your knees close to your body and rock side to side. Hope it gets better soon.

You might get a muscle relaxant if you go to a walk-in centre.
Sorry to read this. Ice is definitely worth a try, Do Not Try Heat like I did!!

There are lots of videos on youtube to deal with lower back pain, exercises that I find help me.

No chance of a swim, I’ll try the exercises and see if that eases it. And have a look on YouTube thanks for the tip

Thought of the walking centre in Christmas Eve makes me feel a bit sick, god knows how busy it’s going to be

Walk-in will be quieter now than late tonight.
Problem is finding a 24/7 pharmacist that can dispense the muscle relaxants on Xmas eve / Sunday.

Lie on your back on the floor with your calves and feet up on a chair seat. Lie there as long as you can. Also google some yoga postures - cat/cow and bridge always help my lower back

Thanks for the advice earlier, I ended up going to the walk in centre, it was a bit of a wait but have Diazepam, naproxen and cocodamol for the next few days, she thought i might need an mri as it's being going on for so long, so off to the docs after christmas

You can get codeine over the counter in the form of nurofen plus or solpedine/co-codamol. It's Not a very high dose of codeine but better than nothing. Alternate nurofen plus with solpedine for max effect. The nurofen plus will be most effective as it's an anti-inflammatory. Use the Voltarol gel as well (you won't overdose by much and if you had nurofen prescribed you could get a higher dose anyway.). Plus maybe try a heating/cooling gel, whichever helps most and a heat pad and/or ice pack. You wouldn't get muscle relaxants over the counter.

Oh sorry for some reason I didn't see your last post when I replied! Glad you got some good drugs!
