Abnormal heavy clotted period any experience?

Usually have a very light period last 2/3 days.

I’m now on day 7 of extremely heavy bleeding, full of clots. The heaviness is definitely worse in the night. Work up again and soaked through super tampax and pad and onto bed sheets. Was the same past few days then as day goes on it become very light. Thinking it’s all over then starts again at night.

I’ve more chance of winning the lottery than getting into my doctors today but I will try.

Does anyone have any experience?

I’m 34. 2 children. No chance of being pregnant.

Are you experiencing any pain? This situation could be caused by lots of different things. (some serious, some not serious at all) It would be best to speak to your GP if possible or maybe try phoning the NHS 111 number for advice if you can't get in to see your GP today/tomorrow.

Managed to speak to GP today. Miscarriage was first thought but explained about DH snip. She said maybe pre menopausal? But at 34? Said to see what happens whether bleeding continues, whether next period is normal. No sign of let up today, on the beach in 6 days :(

OP I dont want to be alarmist but I remember a thread on here a few months back - a poster was having a heavy period, with clotting, soaking a pad every hour or so and it turned out to be sepsis.

It really doesn't sound like that but might it be worth also ringing 111 and trying to get an OOH appointment tonight? I really wouldn't be comfortable "just waiting"

I've read several threads on here about similar symptoms, and would always say now that if it is unusual for you, then it needs investigating. I'd phone 111 and let them decide.
