Hi,

I have had irregular periods since I was in my 20's. But recently I have been having bleeding before or after my actual period. It wouldn't be a lot to fill a pad but enough to come when I wipe my self and sometimes enough to show on a panty liner. I feel throbbing in my uterus a day before and on the day it happens. I also suffer from back pain during that time. This lasts for a few days and then stops. I have had STD, STI tests done. Also got a scan done and they say that tis coming up normal. Is this normal? what can the reason be? and what can I do to stop this. GP has given up and I think secretly considers me crazy.

I have under active thyroid, PCO and IBS. I have high levels of antibodies in my body and A- blood type. I have been charting my cycle and its normally of 45-47 days. I had one miscarriage in 2013 and gave birth to a lovely DD in 2014. My health hasn't been the same after the miscarriage. I also suffer from anxiety and stress which changed into mild PND after giving birth. Took me a year to recover after it. I am now also consider obese as I weight 65 kg with a height of 157cm. Can any of this be causing this?

I thought I was pregnant but I am not pregnant either which was disappointing in of itself. I have been trying to loose weight as well but its not budging at all. I am taking 75mcg levothyroxin and 1 metformin every day to help with PCO and period regulation.

Please can somebody tell me that its ok and not something to worry about. If there is something I should look out for then what is it? How can I get my health better?

No dr will give you medical advice over MN it is unethical. If you are concerned go and see your GP.

Go see a different GP and ask for further tests.

This is not professional advice, so please don't take my word as final!

I have ibs (as well as quite a few other heath problems - coincidentally I'm also A-) and have a mirena so don't get periods, but when I have an attack, I have a small amount of bleeding. I have been told that this is along the same lines as eating curry to induce labour - the peristalsis in the bowel induces contractions in the uterus.

Also how stable is your weight? When I am losing weight, I have random patches of bleeding. This time it's apparently cause the fat that has been metabolised has hormones stored in it, which then lead to breakthrough bleeding.

As well as these, a very quick google suggests that breakthrough bleeding can just be a symptom of hypothyroidism. Do you see an endocrinologist or is medication done with your GP?
