urticaria

Is it common for urticaria to come with a high temp? DD2 has had quite a severe rash for a few days now and is really not well, Have seen doc no less than 3 times (I'm not paranoid, but she really is poorly!) and the latest is that he thinks it's an alergic reaction. But does that account for a high temperature?

follow up question. Is tartrazine only in some squashes? DD never has squash at home but does have it once a week at play-group and has never had a problem. This weekend she went to a party and had squash - it's the only unusual thing I can think of as teh possible cause. But it would only make sense if playgroup squash was tartarzine free and other wasn't. Is that possible?

My 4yr old ds has also had a mild recurrence of urticaria and the only thing i can put it down to is the weather heating up! But my ds has no discomfort or symptoms, have you tried homeopathic urticaria??? Hope shes feeling better soon!!!

Just checking but this is like nettle rash or hives isn't it? If so my Dd used to get it in hot weather and also with some "non specific" virus ie docs couldn't identify but she had a high temp also. To treat the urticaria we found piriton helped, available in liquid form for children.

Hi - thanks for the messages - yes urticaria is hives/nettle rash. She was in such a state last week, poor little thing, really unhappy, temp up to 104, refusing medecine, lethargic. She ended up at the docs a grand total of 3 times, and I phoned him twice and I promise I'm really not paranoid. It was partly coz the doc didn't explain very well. Anyway a couple of days of full dose of piriton and calpol and she's nearly back to normal. Don't know what caused it and doc says it's unlikely we 'll be able to find out. main thing though is she's better [need a "phew" face]
