Embarrassing issue/is it even a real ? Help!

So around 9weeks ago I realised I had dry scaly skin & redness on my right nipple. I initially thought some form of dermatitis/eczema and have applied emollient religiously since then. However it's not budged at all. It started on the nipple and has spread a little to the aereola (sorry tmi) but not gotten any worse as such, just dry/peeling/Sometimes cracked & occasionally itchy. I know I need to see a gp however appointments are like gold dust round here & im not sure whether it's an issue. Anyone had this? So strange as it's only on one nipple and I'm otherwise well. Any advice/information very much appreciated. Thank you!

I don't want to alarm you, but emergency appointment with GP.

You need to get this checked OP. Scaly skin around the nipple can possibly be a more serious issue. It might be nothing but it needs to be checked.

Lisette40 · 13/12/2017 22:23

are you okay OP?

Bluntness100 · 13/12/2017 22:25

You need to make an emergency appt with your doctor sweetie. It’s not embarrassing, just give them a call in the morning and get one.

Thank you for your replies, I know deep down I should see the GP and will ask for an appointment tomorrow, it seems a bit dramatic for some dry skin but I'm sure if its nothing they will be happy to reassure me.

You're taking good care of you and you're doing the right thing. I went to my gp with a breast issue (a tiny lump) and she sent me to the Breast clinic just to be absolutely certain all was okay.

Absolutely needs gp ASAP and don’t be fobbed off/allow yourself to be fobbed off by receptionist. Don’t describe it as just dry skin. It is an breast oddity that needs checking quickly.

I had this and went to GP who gave me cream to use and asked me to come back if it didn't clear in a week. He checked for lumps too. It cleared totally and was fine.

Bluntness100 · 13/12/2017 22:33

Please get an emergency appt op

It could be totally fine. It can also be a sign of something more serious, I don’t want to worry you, so won’t go further than that, but I do want you to take it seriously and see your gp ASAP.
