Why would my scalp suddenly be extra sensitive to brushing?

At the hair dressers today with my usual stylist and I felt like such a baby - every brush stroke was extra painful!

I am quite head sore compared to others but this was another level. I usually adore the scalp massage but today I was flinching all the way through.

It doesn't feel like an allergy type sensation, just like the brushing/pulling of hair is amplified iyswim.

Is this a symptom of something?

I know exactly the feeing you’re talking about. I always get this when I’m about to come down with something.

Backingvocals · 13/12/2017 21:17

I get this when I’m brewing a cold or sore throat.

Ah, I'm at the end of a cold - just snots, coughs and sneezes - reckon that's what's happening?

Are you also having headache, or pain in the jaws whilst eating? Any changes in vision? There is a possibility that this could be caused by temporal arteritis. This is a condition that you should see your GP for (it is treatable, but shouldn't be ignored).

Shock

Oh blimey...I've not had any severe symptoms, maybe mild sensations around the eyes, like a tightness. I thought I was just a bit anxious...I'll keep an eye on it!

Christ, Dr Google is no friend eh?!

But no jaw pain or vision loss, thank goodness.

I always get this when I'm ill

Sorry, didn't mean to scare you! It probably isn't TA but if the scalp tenderness persists or you have any other symptoms, you must see your doctor. But as I say, it is treatable.

I get this when I'm ill. It's worse if I take something like sudafed
