Does it give you period pains? How soon after you took it did you feel any side effects ?

I took Ellaone this morning and nothing so far

Could also not believe how much it cost !

I took it. No effects at all, side or otherwise as I still ended up pregnant Hmm

I advise that you poas two weeks or so after taking it just to be sure it’s worked.

IHeartDodo · 13/12/2017 16:07

I had it a few years ago after a condom got lost (so don't know if I would have got pregnant).
Felt nothing at all, absolutely normal!

GingerbreadMa · 13/12/2017 16:08

No side effects here either. Ive taken it at least 5 times (Im old though so thats not actually that often)

gamerchick · 13/12/2017 16:08

I didn’t get any initial symptoms apart from a bit of nausea a day or so afterwards but it totally screwed up my periods for. couple of months. I still ended up poas because period didn’t show up when it would usually and I had sore boobs from hell so got the fear.

gamerchick · 13/12/2017 16:10

I don’t do well with hormone contraception in any case though. Thank god for the snip.

bigchris · 13/12/2017 17:12

Oh thanks all !

Couldn't believe the cost, 35 quid !

Took levonelle generic. Am 17 weeks pregnant right now, thankfully baby seems fine.

Korez · 13/12/2017 17:19

Ouch if it happens again go to the local GUM... they provide FOC...

TheFlis12345 · 13/12/2017 17:24

I got it free from Boots (it was only free if I took it on the spot in a private room in the branch, I would have had to pay if I took it away with me), and no ill effects.

bigchris · 13/12/2017 18:03

How long ago was that ? I thought you have to pay now

I had it on holiday in the UK, I was shocked at how much boots were charging so called 111 who put me in touch with a local medical centre, popped there, quick appointment and was given it on prescription.

bigchris · 13/12/2017 18:05

Oh Yes just googled, it would have been a pain to get gp appointment so I ordered online and collected from superdrug

No side effects or anything either

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 13/12/2017 18:08

I've taken levonelle on two separate occasions and had no side effects or symptoms either time.
Well, some mild annoyance at a patronising pharmacist the first time, but apart from that!

bigchris · 13/12/2017 21:31

Its wierd isn't it, I thought they'd be cramps or something but then I don't really know how it works Blush

Got it free a couple of times back in the day/early 90s, in those days it was a different formulation and i felt pretty sick both times. I was warned very seriously that i'd have to have an abortion if I was pregnant as the drugs could damage the embryo. Luckily it either worked or I hadn't conceived anyway.

Took it 14 years ago for 25 quid, different formulation, no sickness, and a healthy DS nine months later Smile

I had such a hard time from my GP the first time I requested it, one of the most horrible healthcare experiences I have ever had, basically being accused of lying and treated with distaste and contempt when I requested it. A GP a few years later was wonderful to me when I 'confessed' (that's what it felt like) that I'd taken it twice, he said 'well of course, if you use condoms you're going to need a backup from time to time' and in an instant healed that wound from that earlier consultation. Thank you, Dr L, it still helps.

GummyGoddess · 13/12/2017 22:00

Think they both try and prevent ovulation, but Ellaone is more effective than Levonelle.

You might get an early or late period so don't worry if you're a bit late.

I remember taking one at 16 (2001ish?) where you had to take two pills 12 hours apart, that made me feel very sick but I don't think they do that one anymore.
