DD "rubbing herself"...just a habit?

Hoping that someone can give me a bit of advice here...
For the last 2 or 3 weeks my DD (10 months) seems to have developed a habit of rubbing herself (vaginal/bottom area) against the floor when she's sat up. It's got progressively worse over the past few days (she's doing it constantly) and I took her to the GP to discount worms. He checked her out and couldn't see anything amiss and gave me some Canesten cream. This doesn't seem to have had any effect and she's still shuffling her bum to-and-fro from the time she wakes up to the time she goes to sleep. She doesn't seem to be in any pain (sometimes she seems to be quite enjoying it ) but it's starting to drive me mad...I'm usually quite a patient person but this, together with boisterous DS (3) is kinda sending me loopy...
Anyone else had similar experiences?

has she been crawling before? some babies do bottom shuffling (which this sounds like) before or even instead of crawling. hope someone else can help as well as i had experience of this, sorry!

A friend of mine had a little girl who used to do this in her buggy against the strap. It drove them mad and they saw quite a few doctors etc but she eventually grew out of it.She seemed to be enjoying it initially but then her mum noticed that it was making her angry/frustrated and she had to distract her.I think they went down the canesten route too but it didn't make a difference. She is 11 now and doesn't do it but I can understand you feeling stressed about it

Thanks for the advice. Noddyholder, my DD also thrusts up against her buggy strap (and high chair and car seat) so I'm hoping that she'll grow out of it like your friend's DD. Can't see my DD making many friends if she's still bumping and grinding when she's 16...

Could it be something in her nappy? If you use terry ones maybe its your washing powder or the liners. If there disposable buy a small pack in a different brand and see if she stops. Sorry to not be more helpful

I think it's a nice feeling! My dd2, also just 10 months, has been doing exactly as you describe for the past few days. Tends to be late afternoon when she is tired. Dd1 satrted this when she was was 2.5 ... did it everywhere frantically for a while , but has now stopped (just over 3). We just leave dd2 to shuffle - she gets annoyed if we stop her! If she's quite happy I'd leave her to it. I have read that even babies this young get a good feeling out of it!

DD has been doing her thrusting act again for much of today (slightly embarrassing when you're in public and your DD is groaning like Meg Ryan ) but thanks for the advice...
