Just coming to end of second lot of antibiotics and it's still there. Anyone else had this?

Unfortunately it won't go away until you have definitive treatment, which means extraction or root treatment. Antibiotics are just an adjunct treatment.

I ended up having my tooth out as I’d had an underlying infection for a long while. Antibiotics didn’t touch it. Only good thing was it didn’t cause pain. Can the dentist explain better what might need to be the next step?

Just to add I’ve felt far healthier this year since the tooth came out (had it done last November). Had sedation for extraction and was completely unaware of the procedure.

Yes, get it whipped out if nec. I had the same and when I finally had it removed - took all of 5 min - best thing ever. You will be really surprised by how much better you feel all over.

I popped one years ago, the relief was amazing!

Thanks I'm back at dentist on Thursday. Will discuss it coming out!

I gave up after recurring abscess and had my tooth whipped out, not the best fun but far far better than toothache!!
It's also never occurred to me until reading others responses that I feel better generally since it went.

BabyOrSanta · 12/12/2017 19:45

I've had a recurring tooth infection all pregnancy - 4 lots of antibiotics.
I'm glad to see so many people say that once it's out it's much better!
