TMI warning, severe bleeding after cervical cyst removal

Back story: I had a large cyst removed from my cervix on Nov 23rd, I'd been referred by my GP to have it assessed in the colposcopy clinic. He removed the whole thing and biopsied the tissue underneath (still awaiting results but I think it's all fine). He had some trouble cauterising it so I was in there for around 90mins. He finally managed to stop the bleeding and I went home. For the next few weeks I had some discharge (including the blackened, cauterised tissue) and then at the beginning of last week some spotting of fresh, bright red blood. That stopped yesterday, but as soon as I got up this morning I had a huge gush of blood, went to the toilet and passed 3 huge clots. Since then it's been steadily flowing, to the point where I'd soaked 3 sanitary towels by 11am. I passed a further 7 clots as well. I'm waiting on a call from the colposcopy clinic, but they're really busy and I won't get to speak to them before 3pm. I've called my GP and been offered a call back at 4:10.

Mostly I was wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this after a cyst removal. I only have a mild cramp, but terrible pain in my lower back. It's almost definitely not just a heavy period as I have a Mirena in place so haven't had a period in years. And even so, it's far too heavy for a period, it's constantly flowing and every so often I get a huge gush and more clots again. I'm starting to feel light headed and shaky, which I'm assuming is something to do with it.
I know everyone will say 'go to the gp' which I can't do until I've had the phone call, they have no appointments and can't give you one until you've spoken to a doctor! So until I've had the call back, I'm stuck here feeling shitty and stressed!

Anyone had a similar experience??

I've had mine removed twice and never had bleeding like that. I'd call NHS direct personally

Uncontrollable bleeding following surgery: a&e I’d say. Ideally at the hospital where you had the cyst removed.

Christ woman get to A&E, don’t drive if you’re lightheaded sounds like you need an ambulance! Severe blood loss is a medical emergency.

Go to a&e op Flowers

I managed to get hold of my GP who said it's probably nothing to worry about! She gave me antibiotics and norethisterone to stop the bleeding and said if it's not better in 3 days to go and see her. I think she thought I was exaggerating about just how much blood I was losing.
DH picked up the prescription and came home to find me keeled over in the bathroom so we went to A&E. Waited 3 hours, probably because the triage nurse was sure it was 'just a very heavy period'.
Finally saw a gynae doc who took one look, hooked me up to an IV and declared me nil by mouth. I had surgery at 8 this morning. They tried cauterising it, which didn't work so put 2 little stitches in and it held. I'm home and on strict bed rest until the weekend.
Thanks for the advice everyone, I'm probably the complete opposite of a hypochondriac and try to avoid hospital at all costs, but this was all a bit scary!
