Ok to fly 8 days after minor op?

Having a minor procedure under General anesthetic on Monday. Having biopsys taken from the uterine lining and something beginning with hyst? Similar to a f&c the doctor said. I had my pre op yesterday and forgot to ask. I will be flying on the 20th London to Ireland flight so just over an hour flight and it will be 9 days after the op. Is this ok? Anyone flown shortly after an op? Just worrying and wonder if any of you knew.

My husband flew to Ireland yesterday - 6 days post-op. He was advised to wait 7 days. He was fine

No, I don’t think you can for insurance purposes, I tried to go on a cruise and was refused, it was only a gall bladder op. I cancelled the op.

Sorry not an f&c!! Similar to a d&c I meant!!

Thanks guys, correct me if I'm wrong but I'd say a gall bladder op would be more a major op then what I'm having.

I flew about 10 days after a laparoscopy with treatment for endometriosis (3 hour op), based on my doctor’s recommendation. I live in Europe and went to England for the surgery because the best guy for it was there (private health insurance before anyone jumps down my neck for misuse of the NHS). I was fine, a little uncomfortable still but was only an hour and a half’s flight. I used the wheelchair service to get me through security and customs - really recommend doing that as you can avoid long walks and queues, and it’s there for anyone who can’t manage the walking/standing. Because I was going home there wasn’t an insurance issue as my medical insurance is worldwide, but if you’re going on holiday you might want to check with your insurers. Good luck.

The op is a hysteroscopy with endometrial biopsy.

You're welcome, hope the op went well.

Thankyou Amyflower my stomach feels very sore and tender but all went as expected. I didn't expect to feel so tired though!
