Eczema on eyelids

I am 26 weeks pregnant and have in the last 2 days suffered with eczema on my eyelids which is driving me mad!! (and I look like I am wearing red eyeshadow!)

I suffered before I was PG but could use steriod cream to control before. However on reading the labels now I notice that you shouldn't use them at any time during pregnancy . Has anyone else had this issue and managed to reduce the problem without the steriodal creams???

my DH went to the doctors about this today! He just recommended E45 cream and regular moisturising

What a coincidence!
I take it the mosturiser should be a 'plain' one rather than a nicely perfumed one?
I brought some E45 today so hopefully it sounds like things may improve......

Try kamillosan (sore nipple cream!) This worked for DS2s eczema patches when he was a baby.

I had this on my eyelids and E45 made it worse I'm afraid.

Why is it all so difficult?? I will get the kamillosan tomorrow then.....

Bellie, I had bad eczema on my eyelids as a teenager (as you can imagine I was called lovely names). My Mum wasn't keen on the steroid creams and she took me to a homeopath who gave me a cream to use, drops to take and advice on diet (from memory no citris fruit and nothing from the pig - ham, bacon etc). The eczema cleared up, I stopped using the cream and taking the drops when they ran out and eventually reverted to a normal diet and it has never come back.

Bellie, you could be me! I'm 20/40 and am too suffering from eczema eye lids. Never had it before although was getting patches of it around my mouth which turned out to be due to using soap in lazy face cleaning moments instead of my usual products (Eve Lom cleanser). Think this may be intolerance, all of a sudden, to my eye make up. I have been using the tiniest smear of 0.1% hydrocortisone mixed with my Eve Lom's TLC cream. I only do it when it wont stop itching, usually at night after repeated yawns, seems I have a tear intolerance too!! So been trying to get to bed early and sleeping more so I dont yawn as much. Feels v dull. Had a couple of nights out this week, late nights and more makeup than usual, and the lids are red and angry looking. YUK.
I believe most "not in pregnancy" warnings are due to the fact that the product can not be tested during pg, for obvious reasons, so cant be given a "SAFE" ruling for use. IYSWIM. Many women take steroids during pg beacuse of various illnesses and their babies are fine so a mere smear of HC cream cant be that bad. I'm no Dr tho' so dont quote me, but my anaesthetist husband hasnt stopped me either!

Thanks all, used E45 last night and does not appear as red today, but if it continues or flares up some more I will try either the nipple cream (a bit weird putting on eyelids???!!!) or 'diluting' the steriod cream - good points honeybunney. Not at work today so don't feel the need to even try any makeup - that may also help...

OK - I also had red itchy patches around eyes/eyelids last year (I wasnt pg though) and my optician (I went for another reason) said that i had 'greasy tears' due to a sinus infection/hay fever and the high level of lipids in the tears was irritating my skin. So I put a tiny bit of vaseline over the skin as a barrier and eventually it went. My eyes were quite dry and itchy too.

So may be thats it?? Don't you get more sensitive to pollen etc when you are pg?
