Someone gave me one when I didn't have a microwave. Now I've got a microwave and I can't find the thing - perhaps I'll have another look.

Twinklemegan · 19/04/2007 23:36

Blardy hell Hunker that sounds horrendous.

hunkermunker · 19/04/2007 23:38

It was. And then some! I had period pain that lasted all month and just got worse when I was actually on. Couldn't walk just before my operation, it was so bad.

Childbirth was a doddle by comparison - truly (although I had straightforward births, to be fair).

WanderingTrolley · 19/04/2007 23:44

hunker that's grim

apols for flippant chocolate comment

These are the things I'm talking about - didn't buy mine from here though.

hunkermunker · 19/04/2007 23:45

Oh, no need for apologies - period pain is something that surely OUGHT to be helped by chocolate!

Twinklemegan · 19/04/2007 23:47

And chocolate DOES help almost everything else, especially if someone else buys it.

DimpledThighs · 19/04/2007 23:51

hunker PMSL "I'd have kicked him in the nuts and said "So much is written about goolie pain in shit GPs, try being a binman, you twat". "

that made me feel loads beter!

Personally I find that a good bowel movement tends to help me (gives a bit more space for my womb to relax into) but it's not always possible to have one of those 'to order'.

Other than that, hot water bottles for the back, max strength aspirin/paracematol with caffeine and those stick on hot patches combined with an early night. Teeth gritting and crying optional.

I didn't realise that endro-wass name could give you bad period pain - I'm going to get checked out by my doctor now as I assumed bad period pains would go after childbirth (or is it just relative compared to labour pains??) which it did for a few years but now I'm back to how it was in my early/mid twenties .

Chocolate has done wonders for the sales of trousers for fat legged ladies around my way....

I believe chocolate solves everything.

And I speak as someone in massive debt, with a dodgy looking wound, a limp, a twitch, failing sight, a personal identity crisis, gutter-level self esteem, no friends, wanted for some unmentionable crimes against fashion and in more need of psychiatric help than any woman alive.

So I should know.

Nurse! I can hear the voices again! Bring Quality Street and an iPod!

Twinklemegan,

Re your comment:-

"Does anyone else get pain right down their thighs as well as their lower back and abdomen?

Oh yes, am a veteran of all the above. In my case all this was caused by endometriosis. Having had suc problems since I was 14 and only diagnosed with endo at 31 I would not wish that on anyone.

Doing a pain diary and writing down your symptoms daily will go some way to getting them to take you seriously.

TBH your GP sounds hopeless (his comment try paracetamol may be smile wryly) but many are when it comes to "problem periods". One doc told me that endometriosis is uncommon - I pointed out to him in reply that it is the second most common gynae condition seen in women after fibroids.

Would say that you get a gynae referral and see such a person who has a specialist interest in treating endometriosis. Asking lots of questions is vital of these people is vital, some gynaes are far better at treating endo than others.

www.endo.org.uk is the website of Endometriosis UK which is well worth looking at.
