Bathing after surgery

I know that some houses only have baths but DH seems to think that having a bath is not good for a surgery incision. It is 8 days since my surgery and although the scar is still a little raw it isn't open.

Is it wise to have a bath - it is for a hysterectomy (I know I have been talking about it alot lately) - and my back aches like hell so a soak would soothe my aching muscles!

I had a bath about 7 days post op (gall bladder removal, 4 wounds). Just make sure you have a clear bath - no bubbles and no heavy scented body was on the wound.

If possible, pat dry your wound with a clean or sterile item. I used sterile gauze to dry my wounds, but a couple of them opened up and went funny (after surgery, not because of the bath) - hence my paranoia and using sterile gauze.

Have your bath OP and enjoy it!

I had a bath day after surgery having had a bone graft from my hip and a metal plate inserted in my arm.

1 incision was 3 inches and the other was 6 inches. I had waterproof dressings on though until day 5

Hot baths were my saviour.

Bathing is fine. Ypumdont need to do anything special but avoid harsh chemicals and rubbing vigorously.

I had back surgery on Friday and had a bath today. I so enjoyed it. Just take care when drying the area.

Thank you. I had a dodgy section scar last time and it was due to the amount of bruising. Its nothing like that with this. I have been holding myself stiff when upright so now my upper back kills!
