Prolapse and cool

Hi, this may be a bit long but I don't really know who to talk to till I can see a doctor but basically started when I had a really long 3 day labour with my second child who is now nearly 14 months. I wasn't checked properly during labour which meant the baby's head was showing for a while before it was discovered and the only reason they checked was because they couldn't find her heart rate while prepping me for an emergency c-sec I did state that I could feel the head at the time (but what ever was showing on the screen seemed to stop them from checking) and when I did start pushing she came out very fast but I had second degree tear which needed to be fixed. When me and my partner finally tried to be intimate again (nearly 3 months later) I tore again so I had a operation booked in to fix the tear. When I woke up from the op the surgeon told me I had prolapsed and he had also fixed that, which obviously was shock and the recovery was painful but now I think I am prolapsing again. I have a coil fitted does anyone know if this will be affected and what happens if you get pregnant? I am planning on having more children in the future and I'm scared this won't be possible now. I also have hyper-mobility of the joints which I have read can affect the muscles you use to keep everything in place so would I be looking at a hysterectomy? If anyone has been through something similar could you please let me know what happened! I'm so scared 😢

I have no experience of this but just to say I really hope you can get it resolved as quickly and easily as possible

If you think your prolapse has come back, please see your GP and ask for a gynae referral. Only they can answer all your questions and do more surgery. so first step GP!

I have doctors later this week was just seeing if it's something someone has experience with and as for surgery I have my wedding booked for February so it's all making me very anxious

There are lots of very long threads here on prolapse if you search.

They usually suggest that you complete your family before doing any repairs. Even a CSection won't necessarily prevent further damage.

I'm not sure what you are asking about the coil and getting pregnant? The coil is a contraceptive, so if you got pregnant with it, it would have failed and would need to be removed if you were pregnant which could cause a miscarriage.

PollyPerky · 28/11/2017 08:48

If you are asking if you can still have a coil if you have a prolapse repair, then yes, you can.

isabellasmummy1 · 28/11/2017 10:44

Yes that's what I was asking, I'm pretty sure anyone faced with the prospect of having there womb removed at 27 after a surprise prolapse repair failed would be looking for advice and I have checked the other threads and none of them are the same which is why I started my own. And you are right thy do suggest that but as I have stated that option was taken from me and the op was performed without my knowledge or consent. I can't get in to see a doctor for another week and it is causing me anxiety so I thought I would see if anyone had been through something similar. I obviously knew I had to see a gp to be referred I was looking for some experiences from other people and what happened to them for example did they have another repair that was successful or have they had a hysterectomy....

Sorry just realised that may have come across a bit blunt which was never my intention it's just causing me so much stress and I can now feel the bulge which confirms what I thought so now it's all down to the doctors I suppose

I don't know what you are asking here.

Do you mean will your coil fall out? Or can you have another one after a 2nd repair?

What type of prolapse did you have? was it your uterus, bladder, bowel or all of them? It sounds as if it was not a major repair because if it had been, you'd have been given very precise instructions on what to do post-op (such as no lifting, no driving for 6 weeks etc.) Was this what you had?

In the meantime you have to avoid any heavy lifting - I was told no more than a stone (about 6kgs) forever, after my repair.

So you need to adapt what you do if you are lifting DCs or carrying shopping and buggies.

Sorry I'm not being very clear, It was my womb that prolapsed and yes I was given all the info on how to promote healing and told about the no lifting, driving ect which I stuck too an unfortunately for some reason it took me longer than they said to heal from it but they put the coil in at the time of the op and I had the coil checked about 3 months later or so (June this year) which was all in place but I wasn't prolapsing then or at least they didn't notice and said the coil was in correctly so I'm wondering if the coil could be moved by the prolapse coming down and become ineffective? Or should a prolapse have no affect on a coil? Sorry for all the questions and thank you for taking the time to answer

The coil will still work as long as it is in place. if it's not in place you might feel it or it may cause spotting. The cervix ought to be closed even with a prolapse, so there should be no way the coil can come out due to that. But you might want to have it checked again if you are worried.
