Migraines

I’ve recently started suffering from excruciating headaches. There’s no warning that they’re going to start- one minute I will be fine, the next I have to lie down completely still. They come with nausea and lightheadedness, and can only be resolved by sleep or lying without moving a muscle in a very dark room for a good few hours. Which with a toddler and a dog isn’t possible Sad.

Does this sound like migraines? Is there anything that can be done, or anything anyone can recommend? Is it worth seeing a doctor or will there be nothing they can do?

Are they on one side of your head? Do you get visual disturbances?

What have you tried so far? Co-codamol or Pink Migraleve are options but it depends on if you take other medicines and they can cause drowsiness.

I'd recommend going to a pharmacy and ask there. If you've not had them before, especially past 40y old, do go see the GP.

They’re mostly at the front, although when I stand I get an intense throbbing throughout the whole of my head. I’ve just tried paracetamol and ibuprofen, but it hasn’t seemed to make a huge amount of difference! Will try and get some Co-codamol tomorrow.

I’ll try and book an appointment at the GP’s this week. For the record, I’m very early 20’s in case this makes a difference!

Migraines can be triggered by changes in hormones. But if you’ve not had them before or they are becoming stronger or more frequent then you should get it checked out. Pink Migraleve has a medicine to stop you feeling as queasy. Drink plenty of water too.
