Appreciate anyone who can help me out!! I have been on microgynon for 3 years, had awful acne so changed to Yasmin and had no problems with it! However I have been undergoing gynae tests and just found out I have a cervical evtropian, so my nurse said I should use a progestogen only pill (Desogestrel) Any thoughts on it? I’ve heard bad things and don’t want any weight gain or mood changes. Many thanks.

That's not the only progesterone only pill.

Look at noriday and norgeston which contain other types.

StrawberryLemonade · 26/11/2017 19:15

Desogestrel IS a progesterone only pill. Usually known as cerazette, cerelle or zeletta.
I've used it in the past with no real issue. Only problem was irregular bleeding.

StrawberryLemonade · 26/11/2017 19:15

Sorry I thought user above was saying it wasn't a prog mesterone only pill. Clearly can't read Grin

Does it have to be you who deals with contraception?

Hannahlou2696 · 26/11/2017 20:29

What do you mean?

Stopped my periods for years (cerazette) until i got the mirena which also stopped them

What do you mean?

Can your partner not use a condom for example, or in a long term relationship consider a vasectomy.

Hannahlou2696 · 26/11/2017 21:12

I don’t mind using condoms short term but I’d like a plan in for long term, and no we are wanting kids in the future we are only 21.

What about the implant? As far as i know its progesterone only.

PollyPerky · 26/11/2017 22:47

Your nurse is talking rubbish. Why on earth does she believe that? The pill and any change in hormones can cause ectropions, such as being pregnant. They are not dangerous and often go away. Sometimes they might bleed slightly after sex.

Cervical erosions aka ectropions are common. I had one at 24 (decades back) when first on the pill. It was never a case of stopping the pill. I had it treated as a small op. Nowadays they leave them alone or treat them. There is no need to change pills.

I think you ought to see your GP for reassurance. FGS at 21 you need as good a type of contraception as you can, unless you want a baby, and that's not the POP.

Another suggestion of the implant here. Pretty sure it's progesterone only. I've had one for years and no longer have periods which is an added bonus!
