Acid erosion on teeth

Hi everyone. I have become very concerned about my upper two front teeth. They have quite a bit of acid erosion on them due to not looking after them when I was younger Sad My parents weren't very bothered about our dental care, used to give us fizzy drinks a lot. At least one can of coke a day. It started at the bottom and I've noticed it's got worse after having my daughter, I was sick a lot. All around the outer area of my teeth is darker and looks more see-through, I can still see some stronger looking enamel in the middle. I'm going to be registering at a new dentist soon. Will I still get free dental care since my daughter is less than a year old? My health visitor told me they no longer give out exception cards for dental care, and that the dentist makes you sign something. Has anyone else been through this? What do you think they will do for me? Thanks Smile

Hello, I have no idea about the exception as my youngest is 7 but I did get free treatment when she was a baby.
I had acid erosion on my two top front teeth from eating loads of fruit as a child. I’m in 40s now. In my late teens I had white fillings put on the front of my teeth and they are still there to this day! I’m surprised they have lasted so well. I remember the dentist who did them saying that one day I may need veneers but thankfully that day hasn’t come yet.
I would imagine you would be offered some kind of filling if that would work or perhaps veneers but I think that would be expensive.
Don’t know if that is helpful...

Thank you for the reply! I'm hoping they can put some sort of filling on it as it's really knocking my confidence Sad Feel like I can't smile anymore. I'm not sure if I could get veneers for free as part of the NHS exemption. Hope it's a bit cheaper! If not maybe crowns could do haha 😅
