Could I ask for thyroid test?

I'm a massive googler and despite ignoring health problems generally, i don't think i can make a good call on this as I've basically diagnosed myself.

When i was 6 weeks pregnant my blood results came back and Hb was 8. As it was so early in pregnancy and i eat a lot of meat further tests were done to find the cause, while i was taking iron supplements. I don't know what tests were done except for celiac but none found a cause for anaemia. I was also found to be b12 deficient and had injections throughout pregnancy. I had been tired since dc1 was born 4 years earlier and never questioned that it was more excessive than what we all feel.

Anywho, both iron supplements and b12 injections, which i was told i would always need, fell by the way side about 8 months ago. About 2 months ago i started feeling like I'm not coping with how tired I feel. It's caused by my dcs night wakings but i just don't feel like I'm managing it like i could before?

So i went Dr to see if it was iron related and i convinced myself it was, and also that i probably had an underactive thyroid. Results are back and Hb is 12, ferritin is low but didn't say what, and b12 is fine. So just when i tried to pay attention to my body it turns out I'm actually fine. I was hoping that something could make me feel better that didn't involve more rest as that isn't possible to achieve anytime soon!

Would i be a hypochondriac to ask for thyroid test? Is it likely this was checked out during pregnancy as i was referred to haematology so they did make great efforts to find out why i was anaemic, although being pregnant meant that haematology didn't want to do anything about it.

"ferritin is low" were the words that jumped out to me from your post. This can make you feel awful.

I;d be asking the surgery exactly what the figure was and if it's less than 100 I'd be back on the iron tablets.

In answer to your original question, these vitamin and mineral deficiencies often go hand in hand with thyroid issues, so a test wouldn't be a bad idea.

Thanks @timeistight I totally forgot I'd posted here for advice it's been a crazy few days. Hadn't realised that low ferritin would make me feel bad as it didn't fall into anaemia bracket and Dr sounded like the cause of tiredness is more likely to be due to lack of sleep. Will be starting the supplements and may go back if no improvement in 4 weeks.
