Kidney stones

Anyone had these? Was being treated for a kidney infection but sample came back clear, but did contain blood traces. He thinks it's kidney stones and has referred me for a scan. Just wondered what your experiences and symptoms were?

I had them but the scan showed they could be passed . Which i did but s painful at the time. Sorry tmi but there was one larger one which briefly stopped flow of wee then pinged out and I heard it hit the toilet bowl then the rest were like gravel in the toilet .

There was lot of pain in my kidney in my back I was admitted with morphine they were that bad sorry if that’s not what U want to hear but it was very painful 😣

My doctor warned me they could be painful. I just wondered how long from onset of symptoms (pain in kidneys) to the stones being passed...although I guess that's different with everyone. I keep checking the loo after every wee to see if anything has started to happen Blush

Mine was too big to be passed and had to be removed.
They can stay in the kidney for years and you wouldn't know!

If you have kidney stones you will know about it. The pain is absolutely horrific, usually feel it in the side, lower back, into the groin. I hope you're better soon Flowers

They might be very small. If you've got an old pair of black tights you can try weeing through them to see if there's any gritty residue.

At latest count my husband has about 16 odd kidney stones - the scan showed more but he’s passed a couple - yes it is painful to pass them! Consequently he’s been doing lots of research as to the cause.

Dehydration is a major factor as are certain foods such as leafy greens and beetroot. Drinking lemon juice helps stop them forming and breaks down existing ones. Also if you feel that you’re about to pass one drink some lemon juice mixed with olive oil - helps it on its way.

Good luck.

I don't think dehydration will be the cause of mine as I drink nothing but water all the time. I'm wondering if antacids can cause them as I'm using lots of those as I have reflux issues?

The pain is in my kidney area and radiates round to my belly a bit so don't think they're on the move yet Hmm
