Back pain in office

I'm really searching for a useful advice. I work as copywriter in office and I spend really much time sitting while I'm writing articles. And because of that I feel usually very tired of beign too long in one and the same position. Also back pain after the working day is really awful, it's so bad now and what will happen when I'm pregnant again (we're planning to have a second child during next year)? Are there any solutions for this? What can you recommend me?

My gp has just refered me to physio for this, but whilst i'm waiting I bought a cushion for my office chair off amazon for lower back pain, it has really helped. I've done a couple of yoga classes which have helped too so i'm going to carry on with a bit more exercise. Can you try having a walk at lunch? Xxx

Could you possibly stand at a raised desk for part of the day? You might be able to get part of your desk raised or such like. Failing that you can get a kneeler seat to use for part of the day.
Something like a regular Pilates or Yoga class would be a really great help also. Not only would it help with flexibility and posture, it would make you much more aware of your body as well.

If you are an employee and you have an occupational health person, or maybe a work physio, s/he should come and visit you, look at how you use your work area and suggest changes. I did this 20 years ago and got a new chair, good advice and physio sessions on the company.

I have a sit stand desk, and also set my phone so I get up and move around every 30-40 mins. I do 30 mins yoga / core exercises every morning (well most mornings!) and also walk as much as I can. My back completely “went” and I couldn’t sit down for three months, with pain for over two years, so I take it seriously, and it started with SPD in pregnancy so I’d say find a good specialist physio if that happens to you.
