Hi All, I'm still having no joy with my surgery about giving ds DTaP (Infanrix). Has anyone in this area had any luck with their surgery?
Have tried contacting my PCT as well as surgery manager but haven't heard back from the former (will keep chasing) and the surgery have dug their heals in....

WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE?!? This is getting me so down now I dread thinking about it every morning. Another month has gone by again and we've just had his MMR request come through...

Heron Practice, John Scott Health Centre, Green Lanes, N4 (just in Hackney, we're Finsbury Park)

NO problem with mine which is Park ENd Surgery, South End Green NW3. Very helpful and understanding and gave me info on a place to get single MMR

Davros · 20/07/2004 18:09

just thought though, they be more understanding and supportive as I have a long relationship with them and know several of the DRs very well and I already have a son with severe autism....

Thanks bundle and Davros.

I guess there's no harm in contacting them. They can only say 'no'.

Davros, would you mind if I contacted you via CAT to talk about the single MMR contact?

Thanks again.

Please do but its nothing mind blowingly interesting. I've made an appt at The Holborn Medical Centre in Lambs COnduit st (Google or I can find my piece of paper). I haven't been there yet so have no experience to share.

We use the Mill Hill Surgery in Acton W3. They are absolutely lovely and great with kids. I did the normal english jabs, but asked for a couple of extra ones normally done in the usa (hepA and pneumoccocal meningitis) and they were brilliant about special ordering them for me. They only made me pay for the medicine, not the person to do the jab. (I'd already gone privately for the first 3 of 4 and paid over £400). They would be worth contacting to ask about the DTaP as they have seem very open minded about things. They also have their own free parking lot!

BTW, Holborn Medical Centre and probably the others that do separate MMR will also do thimerosil-free baby jabs..... at a price of course. Ours get some meningitis jab now don't they, can't remember which strain it is.

karen99 · 21/07/2004 21:06

Yes, have been trying to avoid paying but it may come to it..

Thanks SofiaAmes. I think I'll try them.

Just had a phonecall today from a lady at Brent PCT and she was actually really nice and really helpful. She's going to come back to me with another contact name etc. Fingers crossed she'll actually be able to help. Will let you know what happens.

karen99, totally agree that you shouldn't have to pay and was relieved when I didn't have to! Best of luck with making some progress. I don't really see what their problem is, the nurse said to me that one of the jabs (can't remember which one now) is "less effective in this form" but I just said "but more effective than not having it at all" and she agreed.

Hi Davros, they must have been listening to us yesterday as I've just opened this mornings mail (yes, it actually arrived before lunch time today!) and there was a letter from my surgery. Looks like they're going to reconsider! And I was dead impressed that my dr actually admitted "As it happens you were better informed than I was about the impending changes in immunization and procedures in the UK". Must have taken alot to say that. I'm seeing him on Monday to discuss further. Don't think this is the right time to mention I'm going with single MMR jabs..

Sleeping with all fingers and toes crossed must have done the trick!
