Lump on DD head

Completely new to this site and also to message boards! I'm after some feedback from other mothers - hopefully less neurotic than me! My 2 and half year old DD had a fall in the bath a couple of weeks ago while I was downstairs getting toothbrushes (typical!) and I think she fell backwards and hit her head.. Didn't cry for very long and I thought nothing more of it . However she still has a lump in the area where she fell. I've taken her to the Dr who said don't worry and checked her eyes etc, but I'm still fretting about it and it doesn't seem to be going down .... Is this something to do with the fact that young skulls are soft and she might have this lump forever...? If so that's not a prob, I just want to know that it's not anything to worry about! She is absolutely fine in herself - nothing strange about her behaviour or health... Could someone please settle my neurotic mind!! Many thanks!

I don't have any answers but if you are still worried I would take her back.

I think she will be ok OJW. IME all kids have little lumps and bumps on their heads. The lump you can feel was probably tehre bertore. But do keep an eye on it and monitor any changees.

Welcome to mn!

For the benefit of anyone else who is concerned about lumps on heads as a result of a fall... the paediatrican said that it's absolutely fine and it can last quite a long time unti it eventually recedes... so I'm satisfied now! She did explain about soft tissue damage, and also fractured skull .. even then they would have just monitored a child over 24 hours for abnormal behaviour/sickness, and if all was well, it would be left to heal itself...
