I smell - help!

I have always been fairly sweaty, never found an antiperspirant that actually kept me dry, even those scary twice a week ones. I now have a new job that is really full on...and its not just being wet that's an issue, but I smell - stress sweat I think, and it's gross. I have to wear a uniform and I am ruining the t shirts - the sweat doesn't wash out well enough and after a number of wears they are just rank. I use a 40 degree wash since its a coloured t shirt, is that not hot enough, what more could I be doing??

For your stinky shirts, soak them in mouth wash then wash as normal. It really works. I'd also agree with wash with soap ( bloody hate shower wash stuff) use good deodorant and take a change of top clothing with you for lunchtime

The proper bar soap thing has made a huge difference to me. My work tunics used to go like this (healthcare) but are better now. Going to try Sports wash though.

I think diet has a lot to do with it.
If you eat fresh fruit and veg and water then you will smell a lot fresher (as will your breath!).
Agree a good deodorant, bar soap and vinegar in a hotter wash will help a lot too.

Do not use laundry liquid. Bio washing powder is your friend here. It's better for your machine as well.

I suffer with sweating, this is what’s working for me at the moment; washing with proper soap, using Sure cream antiperspirant (the sports one) morning and night, and for my clothes I use Dettol laundry cleanser in every wash. This is the most successful regime Ive found!

Interesting about soap. Why does it work better than shower gel? Is it just more effective?

Viviennemary · 11/11/2017 12:31

I agree with Dettol laundry in the wash. It help with DS's clothes. And also Driclor mentioned above is good too. .

Soap is a far more effective way of cleaning your skin, and doesn't leave a film, which acts as a barrier and prevents anti-perspirant from working properly.

I have never been a fan of shower gel as I never feel clean after using it.

I have just swapped from Mitchum to Sure £4 in Superdrug. The difference is amazing. My clothes dont smell under the arms after wearing them for 30 mins after a shower with soap!
