Ds is 13 and has an ingrown toenail. I’ve self referred today to podiatry and wondering what they will do? Take the whole nail off? Trim the sides?

Anyone have any experience with this??

I have a pic if anyone’s interested in gross things Wink

mrsreynolds and anyone else - you can buy a Limbo waterproof cover for the lower leg to use in the shower or bath. Sorry I don’t know how to link.

Update

Ds finally had his toes sorted out. One the whole nail was removed and the other just the sides. It's been two weeks now and looking pretty good.

Those photos. I cannot unclench.

Glad he is all sorted now, must have been terribly painful for him. Fingers crossed he doesn’t have any further problems.

Poor lad, glad it’s all sorted now and he’s on the mend Flowers

I'm so glad he's sorted. Please make sure that he cuts his toenails correctly as incorrect toe nail cutting is a major factor of ingrowing toe nails. I'm not implying this is way it happened.

My daughter is 18, 19 on Friday and she has had an ingrown toenail for about 3 months now and has had 3 lots of anti-biotics and it is just getting worse. She keeps going back to Dr but they won't do anything. She finally got a referral letter from GP on Thursday and I rang the number I was advised to. It is a number that has not been in service for about 4 years! We can't make an appointment online as it won't allow you too. went back to Dr to find out there isn't anything they can do as she isn't diabetic and we need to go private! We are in the South East (Greater London) Is this really the case? Can anyone advise? She definitely has an infection under the nail and it has changed colour. We are worried about sepsis. Could we just take her to A&E, she can barely walk on it.

Could you see a podiatrist privately and get a referral? Ds had one this time last year and had his op within 2 months on nhs (SE)
