Im wondering wether she just is a bit bunged up , but it seems she complains only when her temp is raised, which has been going up and down since 3am wednesday morning.

Im about to give her some nurofen as she hasnt had anything since the middle of the night, so will see if that makes a difference.

Just seemed not to be a symptom of the pox though ????????

from memory, tummy pain is a sign of the pox, several kids i know have been sick with it too...my lot have still managed to avoid the pox....despitae all close friends and school mates having it this time round.
Hopefully she feels better soon

We have glands in out tummies as well as throat, armpits etc...it's probably her glnds being swollen as her body tries to fight off the infection. you could give Calpol or similar to help relieve the discomfort. hope she perks up soon

ahhhh thats a kind of weird relief , I was getting concerened that she had something else at the same time.

She seems to have it quite bad, over 50 spots now and some have come in clusters together so look like HUGE blisters and they seem to be increasing still. .

Be careful with Eurax though, I think with young children it should only be used once a day. I found Piriton was wonderful (give it just before bedtime). And yes my dd also had tummy ache when CP started.

Small children will complain of a tummy ache when they are in pain. Even if there is nothing wrong with their tummies. If a small child is feeling really rotten they find it hard to use detailed language to explain their symtoms.

I remember commenting to the community paediatian that I took my son to the out of hours doctors because he was screaming with hearing ache at the age of four. It turned out that he had a really nasty throat infection instead of ear ache. I wondered if it meant my son's speech was delayed and I was told by the paediatian that it is completely normal for four year olds not be able to accurately express which part of their body is pain.

Medised is good for chickenpox. It has paracetanol in it as well as an antihisatime. I hope she gets better soon

frances5 · 13/04/2007 14:17

oops I meant ear ache, not hearing ache! Where is the edit when you need it?

ahh thanx Mimid for the eurax tip eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek , hmmm not sure what to do for bed time with the scratching ,theres NO WAY shes leaving mittens on!

I forgot about medised , think thats coming out tonight. Although I worry with that that she wont wake if she has a temprature during the night
