Who to see about arm muscle pain?

Had pain in my left arm for a few weeks now - pretty sure it's muscular, it comes and goes but can be quite bad when it flares up. I assumed i'd just strained a muscle (probably picking up ds, the little lump!) and it would clear up on its own eventually, but it doesn't seem to be improving. Can my GP actually do anything to help, or am I better off going to a physiotherapist or even an osteopath? Any ideas? TIA!

My doc referred me to physio, which didn't help at all. Ended up having a steroid injection in the elbow, which lasted 4/5 months. Pain now back with a vengeance, and now been referred to the musco-skeletal unit. In your case, probably best to start with doc, as he can refer you for x rays/ scans etc

OK, that makes sense! Can always do both I guess!

Be prepared for a wait !! I've been like this for nearly a year now !!! A magnotice pressure bandage should help, from the chemist

Does it come and go with exercise? If so it could be angina and actually referred pain from your heart...

OhOfCourse · 25/10/2017 21:50

I get the same thing but in my right arm. Useful to know it could be angina 😞

There are 101 things that can cause pain in your arm. Your best bet is to see someone who understands the relevant anatomy - a GP or good physio - who will hopefully reach a diagnosis. The diagnosis will inform the treatment.

Oh God, angina? Hadn't thought of that. It's not so much exercise as strain, if you see what I mean... You're all right though, I've made an appointment with the GP. Fingers crossed it's nothing serious!
