The doctor said it's probably just the tail end of a virus causing it because he's absolultey fine apart from the extremley runny poo.

You'd never know he was "ill" if you didn't see the contents of his nappy.

He's prescibed diorlyte incase he;s de0hydrated but he's drink his milk fine, with no sickness at all.

So How do I get him to drink it because there no way on earth he'll drink instead of milk.

LadyTophamHatt · 12/04/2007 18:24

oh, it is foul stuff....are you bottle feeding>? if so , dilute his milk a lot instead...

poor little man...x

OrvilleRedenbacher · 12/04/2007 18:25

theres a balckcurrant one
bung it ina bottle

LadyTophamHatt · 12/04/2007 18:26

yes, he's bottle fed now.

Doctor said about diluting it but I don't think he's have that either. He's a milk monster

syringe it in.

LadyTophamHatt · 12/04/2007 18:29

Do you think we could just sort of "ride this one out"??

He's not bothered by it at all, not grumpy with it, no sign of any sore bum...just all perfectly well.

Could we just carry on, as we are and wait until it rights itself??

Dd1 (12 monthhs) had a virus 2 weeks ago and ended up in hospital, they tried to give her Diorlyte and mixed it with her drink but she still refused to drink it.

The doctors told me not to worry to much about the diorreah as much as sickness as she was getting some fluid into her. Dd has only just got over it and back to her normal self.

Hope he is better soon

jalopy · 12/04/2007 18:34

If he's drinking milk, seems well hydrated and has good wet nappies, then don't worry.

OrvilleRedenbacher · 12/04/2007 18:35

hell liek the blakcurrant one

Whoooosh · 12/04/2007 18:43

If he really won't take it then I wouldn't worry too much-as long as he is drinking his milk and it soesn't persist for another week or more he should be fine.

I have never managed to get any of mine to drink dioralyte. It is not essential LTH, if he seems well enough in all other respects and diarrhoea starts to improve, I am sure he will pick up the nutrients and fluid he needs from the milk.

LadyTophamHatt · 12/04/2007 19:41

yeah but Cod...I'd have to pay fro that one

DG, jalopy etc, thats what I was thinking, he really is absolutley fine apart from the squits...I 'll leave it until the weekend then if its still not better, or he gets worse I'll force the diorlyte down him!!

When my ds had this I was told not to give him milk as it makes diahorrea worse.
Stopped the milk for 2 days and the poo stopped. Might have just been coincidence though.

DumbledoresGirl · 12/04/2007 20:05

That is true. You are not supposed to have any dairy when you have diarrhoea. But isn't it different when the sufferer is a baby? And breast milk is fine.

Ceebee74 · 12/04/2007 20:10

LTH - my DS had this at Christmas (he was 5 months) for nearly 2 weeks - TMI alert but it was literally like someone had turned a tap on in his bum at times! No sickness and drinking his milk fine - doctor gave me dioralyte but he wouldn't take it - gave up and he was absolutely fine (we did try syringing in with a little success but not much).

Aloha · 12/04/2007 20:11

Don't bother with the dioralyte.
