11mth old bright green poo and bum on fire!

DS started at the w/e pooing at night - normalish poo but because he didn't always wake he started to get sore (up till then we had a fairly regular poo schedule ifyswim). Anyway picked up from nursery yesterday and they said he had done lots of slightly smelly poos and was really sore. This morning when we got him up he had pooed for England (leaked) and the poo was slightly green and mucousy (sp) - he's just pooed again and its really green like spinich with little consitency - there wasn't much of it though. His poor little bum is on fire (red pimply etc) and nappy cahnges are a nightmare as he is so sore. I've temp switched to disposable nappies as we normally use cloth, tried giving him some nappy off time and avoided the wipes etc. I'm hoping to get him to docs this pm, but has anyone any idea whats going on???. I should add apart from being sore he's fine in himself - drinking and eating normally and ready to go so I don't think its a bug as such. Thanks

It could still be a bug. My ds's gastroenteritis started off with runny nappies and he was quite happy in himself for the first couple of days. Get the GP to send off a stool sample.

Otherwise, could it be teeth? Or what's he eaten lately - anything new?

dd gets pesto bum when she's cutting a tooth. and she never gets nappy rach other than when she's teething and it's hellish, like she's been burned. nappy off time and bepanthen are the way forward.

Thanks - pesto for nappy no.2 is a good discription! - it could be teeth - though I've never had anything like this with the other ones - saying that no new teeth have come through for ages so perhaps we are due one!!. His bum is so sore - I've never seen nappy rash like this on him - he was so upset at the last change that I've given him a dose of calprofen to ease the pain. We're seeing the doc this pm. We did go away at the w/e to the in-laws so he could have picked something up I suppose but he seems so fine in himself - woofing food down and apart from the pain from his bum bery chirpy.

ds2 gets this a lot, in fact sometimes it gets so bad that his rash bleeds our gp is useless and says it only nappy rash

We do nappy off time (easy in this weather, he can go outside), i still use wipes as i find they get the stubborn bits off better but i make sure he is dry before i put his nappy back on. Also, a bath seems to help so when he gets like that he has LOTS of warm baths.

Do take him to the gp and hopefully you will get some proper answers. All our gps are useless

Thanks all-i'll see what the GP says - we had another poo and it was green/brown muchous (sp) and now he's napping. He's in so much pain at changes both of us were nearly in tears. He's had nappy rash before but nothing like this - we did notice an odd aroma with it as well not like a normal honky poo but more like cheesy feet (disgusting I know)so something isn't right - I hope its something simple like teeth!!!

Hi seen the Doc and he's given DS Datakton (sp) an anti-fungal/hydrocotisone cream. May be a reoccurance of temp lactose intolerance so he's said try lactose free milk for a week or two and see if it makes a difference. I kind of hope its perhaps teething we've gone for ages with flare ups of pain but no teeth since Jan - we should be due one or two soon. Thanks for all your help
