Ovarian surgery 10 days ago, and now haven’t peed since yesterday afternoon. Drinking normally.

Would you call the surgery ward, 111 or GP?

Surgery ward

JaneEyre70 · 09/10/2017 20:55

Yes contact the ward you were on.

Piehunter · 09/10/2017 20:55

Surgical ward although they may well advise a&e. Acute retention is a medical emergency, you need catgeterising urgently. If you go to a and e they will see you very quickly.

NotSureIfiAmWell · 09/10/2017 20:56

How are you OP?

Caulkheadupnorf · 09/10/2017 20:57

Ace, thanks.

I wasn’t sure if I was wasting their time and it was a GP thing - first time having surgery and so I’m not sure what is normal, and what to call about, esp as it’s over a week post surgery.

PollyPerky · 09/10/2017 21:08

go to A&E you need a catheter

Caulkheadupnorf · 09/10/2017 21:09

Thanks, I’ve just rung the ward I was on and they said someone will call me back to say if they want me to go there or the hospital with a&e. Thanks for the advice.

You'll likely come home with a catheter in situ for a while as I'd imagine your bladder is hugely stretched if it's been that long. Make sure you are given a leg bag, straps for leg bag and enough night bags. I've always been sent home after a couple of hours but take stuff in case you're kept in. Hope you're sorted soon

How are you OP?

user1485196412 · 10/10/2017 06:36

How did it go?

Caulkheadupnorf · 10/10/2017 08:33

Spent the night on the ward on a catheter and then waiting to see the doctor this morning, who will likely send me home when I can wee normally here. Thanks :£

Hope you recover soon Caulkhead Flowers

Melsop · 17/10/2017 21:54

A&E job. It's quite common and they would not criticise you for going.

Ttbb · 17/10/2017 21:54
