Varicose Veins- Going to see doctor

I have horrible lumpy green veins basically all over both of my legs, they are so bad you can see them through my trousers, so I've booked an appointment with my Gp tomorrow but I really don't know what to say or expect.
I'm just looking for a bit of advice from someone who's been through it and wondering what happened after you spoke to your go, also what did you tell them?
Just feeling a bit down about the whole thing, they really are terrible and make me feel so bad every time I look at them, I actually feel like crying at the sight of them!! I'm not even 30!
Sorry for rambling on!! Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you 😊

Will def make an appt now thank you

Jenny - it took a long time. MOre than a year from GP referral to appointment, then another 6 months before the scan, followed by another 6 months to see the consultat]nt again. Then another 3 months to surgery.

And mine didn't look that bad. The lumpy bit was behind my knee. But my whole leg ached like a bastard after a shift at work or a day out.

@Ahrightsoted I'm glad you're going to go, I hope they will refer you!

@MOIST I thought it would be about that long, mine really hurt too, my legs just feel so heavy all the time. I can't wait to feel normal again Grin

@Aldilogue I sure it was hard on you not being able to wear shorts especially in the summer, at least in the uk it's not just as warm and I don't look totally crazy wearing jeans in summer! I really look forward to being comfortable enough to wear shorts or a skirt/dress!

Mine are awful too but surely the veins are there for a reason, how many can they remove without having problems?

Jennywallpaper · 08/10/2017 17:53

@Whyarethebestnamestaken I think when they become varicose they aren't really doing what the are supposed to, and to be honest they're already causing enough problems. I don't think it would they would remove them if it would make them worse.

Still haven't heard anything from the clinic regarding an appointment, I know realistically I could be well into the new year but I'm so impatient. I just want them sorted now.
How long did it take for everyone else from the first G.P appointment?
