hello

not sure this is right place to post but am considering getting cranial osteopathy for my 7 wk DS born after 38 hr labour, failed ventouse and c section. Can anyone tell me specifically what problems it helped their child with?

Hi

My ds1 had a ventouse delivery and was a very fractious baby. He went onto develop horrific colic. I finally heard about cranial osteopathy when he was about 12 weeks and we had two treatments which made a huge difference to him. After the first treatment he had three days of happy relaxed contentment, before reverting to type. He actually fell asleep during the treatment, with no fussing at all. Unheard of. After the second he stayed much happier and more settled.

My ds2 had a natural delivery and was a much much more peaceful/settled little chap. He went onto develop colic, and we tried a couple of treatments for him, and although he clearly enjoyed them, they had no lasting effects.

vmama, my dd was born after failed ventouse, em c-section due to foetal distress; she didnt breathe for 8 mins after being pulled out and spent a week in scbu. we took her for cranio when she was about 4 weeks as she was fractious and suffered from a lot of reflux. 2 sessions later and she was much more calm (and still is nearly 8 months later) and the reflux improved, although wasnt cured. i would definitely go if i had another baby, whether or not i ahd a difficult delivery

thanks for the feedback -DS is generally a good baby but does seem to suffer bouts of abdominal pain and he also struggled to feed (am bfeeding) and latch on and still has an unusual suck apparently.

he also doesn't sleep much during the day which seems to make him grumpy but seems fine at night am hoping CO may help him

my youngest 3 were big babies and rapid deliveries (ie the pushcing bit) none of them could open their mouths wide enough to get a pain-free bf latch - cranial osteopath sorted it out in all of them.

My friend had a planned section (placenta previa) and I tell you the baby grizzled and cried and screamed contiuely he only ever cat napped and seem to grizzle even in his sleep. AFter one visit there was a massive improvement a couple later and he was absolutely happy

vmama, i think , if you can afford it, it definitely wouldnt hurt to try. the lady we went to see said she would recommend it for all newborns, even those with a seemingly easy/straight-forward birth, never mind a traumatic one. good luck

thanks -oh that's funny cargirl as that's one of the problems we had with bfeeding -he wouldn't open his mouth wide enough and even now we don't have painfree latch -i would LOVE it if they could sort that out! Will post back when we've been

I have to warn that after 7 weeks you may not got a complete improvement. DD2 had tongue tie divided at 2 weeks and then cranial by which time she was a bit older and although it improved a lot she was very much a creature of habit and we never quite made it to completely discomfort free. Got it sorted much quicker with the next 2 and it was pain free - heaven.

Hopefully your ds won't be such a stubborn when it comes to feeding!!!! She was stubborn about weaning onto formula/bottles then solids then giving up bottles and still is generally about food - just her personality!

I would do it again without a doubt...helped me no end with a reflux/bronchiolitic baby x

ds went to the cranial osteopath at 2 weeks old, just for a baby MOT, not because we thought anything needed treating.

The osteopath noticed ds didn't turn his head to the left, which was why he wasn't latching on very well on my right side (had to do rugby ball hold, and had very sore nips). Right in front of our eyes the Osteopath got him to turn his head to the left and straight away he fed tummy to tummy on my right side.

Would defo recommend it. The next baby that comes along will be going there as well.
