Started last night. Has got worse throughout the day. Right in the middle of my chest and through to my back. Worse when breathing deeply.

Any ideas? X

You need to seek medical advice. Chest pain = a&e.

999 for chest pain.

Thanks for your replies. I should have been clearer - it feels more like a strain/sprain. Not my heart but right on my breast bone. But it's not getting better.

My youngest DD has serious cardiac issues. We’ve been reassured by cardiologists that the type of pain that gets worse by deep breathing is generally due to a muscular issue. Do still get it checked to put your mind at rest, though.

Cross post!

Ahh ok thanks @Summer15coming that's reassuring. I'll keep an eye on it. Hope your DD is ok x

Could you have pulled intercostal muscles? They are muscles between your ribs and if you strain one/a few the pain can be intense, front and back. It is worse on breathing. I did it pushing a car in the snow and it was absolute agony.
