Ovary pain - terrified

newsparklylife · 02/10/2017 10:30

Nurse practitioner appointment later but working myself into a major state here.

Ovary pain on and off for few months, occasional pain during sex and a bit of back pain (I put down to sciatica). Suddenly thought need to see gp about this and made big mistake of googling.

Am worried it's a nasty and I've left it too late and am obviously going to die. I suffer from anxiety and am barely functioning today 😔 life has been shit for the last god knows how many years and finally getting back on track.

I am so scared.

Flowers please try not to panic. I know it’s hard but it may not be anything sinister, ovarian cysts if it’s that are quite easily treated even if they become quite large. There is every good chance it will be totally sortable: whatever it turns out to be.

SirVixofVixHall · 02/10/2017 10:36

I've had scans for ovary pain twice now. It was all normal, nothing dodgy, just to do with changes during my cycle. The scan is very straightforward and painless. Possibly you have an ovarian cyst, (very common) . That is much, much more likely than ovarian cancer, so try not to worry too much.

ItsLikeRainOnYourWeddingDay · 02/10/2017 10:41

Your ovary is tiny. The chace that you are pinpointing the pain to be exactly there is very slim. Don't panic.

newsparklylife · 02/10/2017 10:50

Thank you. I don't have bloating or bowel movement changes. Just the pain. I was thinking I could pin point it as must have something growing on it.

I should write novels with my imagination Sad

I really appreciate your replies

I've had scans for ovarian pain several times and it has always been cysts - very common. They shrank down and disappeared on their own. It's unlikely to be something really nasty but I get health anxiety too so I completely understand how you start worrying about the worst possible outcome. It's a good sign that you've had no bowel issues or bloating and it's really good that you're getting it all checked out properly. You said you've only been feeling the pain a few months so you haven't left it very long at all - you're on top of it now, and hopefully the scan will reassure you Flowers

Don't panic Flowers

It's much more likely to be something minor and easily resolved than something nasty. I'd been in agony with ovarian pain a few years ago and it turned out to be a little cyst that self resolved.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 02/10/2017 13:43

You need a diagnosis first and foremost. No more googling, it will frighten you more and unnecessarily so. More likely than not this can be treated. The ovary as well is indeed tiny, its about the size of a walnut.

Deep pain during sex should be mentioned to the GP anyway as this symptom can be indicative of endometriosis.

Mine was a grumbling appendix

newsparklylife · 02/10/2017 16:03

Nurse practitioner was lovely. She thinks most likely a cyst or my coil has shifted. She is arranging a scan for me.

Still worried but not as much! Thank you so much for replying today Grin
