Menstrual cycle changed

Since about May, my menstrual cycle has gone from 28/9 days to 26. I get 5 days of red flow bookended by 2 days of brown discharge, whereas before it was 5 days of red flow with little tailing off.

Has anyone had similar? I don't know whether to see my GP or if it's an age thing (I'm nearly 39).

I've got one DC age 3.10. Been on the copper coil for 18 months, which worked brilliantly after a few heavy periods.

I can't understand why you would see a dr about such a minor change in your cycle! 2 days early?

Cycles change throughout our lives. It's really not an issue or a medical problem. You might go back to 28 days or have shorter or longer cycles. Absolutely regular cycles are not the norm anyway.

Thanks PollyPerky I am well aware that my cycle can change Hmm. It's more the change in flow that's concerning me, as I've not had that since going on the pill sorted out my heavy periods when I was a teenager.

Are you losing weight or got any stress at the moment? I am 29 days to the day every month but the last two have been all over the place (5 days late, a week late) because of both of those things. It's amazing how easy it's affected even when you're so regular! I would see what happens in the next few months.

Between now and 50-ish when you reach menopause, cycles will change all the time as will length of flow. it's really nothing to worry over.

You could be having an early menopause (before 45.)
If your periods carry on being like this for another few months, see your GP for a blood test. Early menopause has long term and serious health risks, fixed by HRT up to age 50 at least.

Sorry, got distracted. Thank you for the reassurance. I was 99% sure it was nothing. It's just bloody irritating Angry
