I am having an op soon on my foot and will probably be on crutches for a little while.

For the first week I have help and the second week DS (just 3) will go to nursery in the mornings so I will just have to manage the afternoons.

I will need to cook something each night and generally fetch & carry stuff as you do with a bossy 3 year old...but DS is fairly self sufficient in that he can go to the loo, put shoes on etc quite easily by himslef.

Will I be OK? Planning on getting DH to sort the laundry, shopping etc.

I was a bit worried about teh stairs, I seem to spend my whole life running up and down them, will have to be superorganized about what is where.

I'm not sure, I'm hoping only for a couple of weeks.

It's only a small op but just not sure how much weightbearing I will be able to do.

I may be able to hobble after a few days, which will be OK I think.

You'll be fine...its amazing the ways you find to cope.
I broke bones in my foot a couple of years ago and couldn't weight bear what felt like months.
My three wheeler pushcjair was a godsend. I used that to move things about the house downstairs and also to hang washing out I'd sit the basket in the chair and when my leg got tired I would rest my knee on it. It was great for taking cups of teas from thre kitchen tot he frontroom....would highly recommend you moving in your pushchair into the house.
As for going up and down stairs going up and down on your rear is one way.
As for your ds he may get away with a few more things than normal but as soon as your back on your feet literally he will soon know whos boss again.
