Hi everyone,

Just wanted to be happy and tell you guys about DS1 (whom some of you will remember had CHRONIC eczema up to just 2 weeks ago) whose skin has miraculously cleared up! He is now walking around bare-footed and isn't even scratching! I think (or rather believe)that it is the homeopathic meds kicking in as it can't be the steroids, since we didn't use them on his face and the quality of skin all round is amazing!! Am not holding my breath though, as a remedy has worked previously but then went back to normal as these things do, but am just celebrating 4 days of no blood and tears. Phew!

thats great news. What homeopathic remedies are you using?

minkmama · 15/07/2004 14:26

Oh hello again delgirl

He's on goatsmilk because apparently he is like a goat and won't stop moving. Also been given Carcinogen because of cancer on my side and hydrocortisone because he's using the creams.

My homeopath sounds wacky doesn't she, but she's actually a qualified MD as well! Better than the last one as she's VERY in depth.

Congratulations!!! isn't it great? are you using anything else apart from the homeopatic remedies? (For the bath, emollients, etc?)

Chandra · 15/07/2004 14:28

carcinogen? what kind of cancer?

DelGirl · 15/07/2004 14:30

Aren;t carcinogen and hydrocortisone conventional treatments though. I've used betnovate on and off for years, though thankfully haven't needed to use it for quite a while.

minkmama · 15/07/2004 14:39

My maternal grandmother had bowel or stomach cancer, and my paternal gmother had breast cancer. I don't know anything about this stuff though...what is betnovate?

Oh and at the mo he's using dermovate once a week and eumovate once a day. Oilatum Plus in bath with bath salts and Epaderm as soap. He's been 'banned' from using ANY aromatherapy like lavender and chamomile. Tried Aveeno these last few days, but I find it quite dry compared to other creams.

Chandra - have you tried the SOS cream by Barefoot Botanicals? I found it very good for moisturising but it's not cheap at £14 for a tube (100ml I think). I also swear by Bach Flower Rescue Remedy cream from Boots. Excellent for repairing skin or rashes. Don't use for long stretches though as it stops working.

Betnovate is a steroid cream as are dermovate & eumovate I imagine. Have you been told these are homeopathic then - sorry, i'm confused!

minkmama · 15/07/2004 14:49

No, we also saw a skin specialist before things improved and he prescribed the creams. The homeopath prescribed an homeopathic remedy which is also hydrocortisone to counteract the creams as they can affect the ability of any of the other remedies to work.

Sorry, been hectic all afternoon/evening! No, it's a minute amount based on the homeopathic theory that like cures like. He's supposed to take the hydrocortisone remedy whilst on any steroid cream. Oh and you only administer it twice a week. HTH
