The day after a colonoscopy and gastroscopy

I have got to have the above and am just wondering how affected I will be the following day?

Doctor mentioned I will be sedated and shouldn't drive for 24 hours after. The day he wants to do it I am flying the next morning and would ideally be driving myself to the airport. I've read some threads on the prep and procedure itself and some people have mentioned being very groggy or having discomfort from bad wind the next day.

Typically we have loads on the next few weeks and he only carries the procedure out on a Thursday at this particular hospital so have very limited choice about when it can take place. Need to allow a clear day for the prep and then one for the procedures but wondering how much I need to factor in a third recovery day. Thanks.

I suffered with bad bellyache from both my Colonoscopy and Endoscopy for a day or so afterwards.
I was sedated for the Colonoscopy but it made no difference to how I felt(was not groggy but then again I felt everything so not sure if it even had any effect)
Good luck with it all

Was not groggy from sesation at all and back in work next day. Just tired from lack of food and broken sleep due to constant pooing.

The reason you cant drive is insurance purposes. Not the fact that you will feel ill.

My partner had both at the same time and was fine even that same day

I felt completely normal the next day - and in fact straight afterwards too.

I was completely fine straight away. Bloody starving though!!

I'm actually on recovery day right now! I took the day off because of the driving rule and feel a bit tired but could have gone to work if I'd been able to get there
.

Can you find another way to get to the airport? I wouldn't drive as if you have an accident your insurance will not pay out but otherwise would continue on as normal

Sorry all, got distracted and forgot to check back! Thanks for your replies. I don't know what they will give me but it took me days to get over a general anaesthetic a couple of years ago (I know it won't be a general) and I think it's better not to risk having anything the next day. Don't want to ruin our first romantic weekend away in ages!
So I've booked in for early Nov as the other available date it is in half term so a no go.
Thanks.

Hi, My DH is due to have both a gastroscopy and a colonoscopy next week. I am pregnant and my hormones are all over the place- for those of you who had it done, please can you advise me how best I can support my DH and also, what the outcome of your results were? I am terrified it is something serious.

Please be gentle - I aren't sleeping well and have anxiety.

I needed a couple of days at home to feel back to normal again. Bear in mind you won't have eaten properly for approx 36hrs and will have had the joys of pixolax to deal with.
