medised hangover?

its probably just co-incidence, dd has had bloody awful cold for about a week, i was givng her medised at bed times, she has a long daytime nap usually so given at night and in afternoon. This was given to help dry up the streaming nose and also help the poor mite sleep. The past couple of afternoons when she has had medised dd has woken from her nap in a distraught state and her temperature seemed higher than before medicating. I'm sure its just because the cold was getting her down but i switched to calpol and she was much better and happier. Has anyone else experienced similar, it is enough for me to think twice about using it again but dont want to report it as a side effect as too many other factors involved. She seemed to sleep better with just the calpol, previous use of medised has not caused a problem but usually only used it for one night. This time about 3 days.

Am not familiar with Medised.... never heard of it. Always used Calpol with no problems. Have you read the leaflet with medised? What is the main ingredient? Calpol is plain old paracetamol.

medised is paracetemol with an additional antihistamine - dipheylhydramine or something like that, too tired to look it up, but it works by drying up the mucous membranes in the nose and stopping the constant running. This antihistamine does act as a mild sedative, as a side effect i think and gives a good nights sleep, ive usually used it witha cold with no problem at all, so probably just that this cold is a real bastard, i had it for three weeks, but was just wondering if other mums had similar worries.
