Looks like a heat rash.....

DS2, 9mths is pickled in little red spots. Saw the GP on Monday who said either heat rash or viral. He's well in himself but today the spots seem worse.
They are all over his body but mainly on his tummy. We haven't changed anything, e.g. food or washing detergent.
Could this be a viral thing? Anyone else experienced this type of complaint, also what can I use to help with the spots, skin seems dry as well.
Thanks

An antihistamine would be good for the spots. Th only one I can think of for that young is Medised which is from 3 months. Piriton and the like are only from 12 months.

You might not of changed your washing powder but the manufacturers may have changed their recipe to a 'new improved' or whatever. What about things like Bubble bath and soaps that could also be irritating the rash? Anything Johnsons is not as 'skin friendly' as we are led to believe. If his skin is dry, you could just put a few drops of olive oil in his bath, but becareful as he'll obviously become slippery!

Thanks Furball, I took DS2 back to GP today he is really scratching at his skin. GP said that it had changed since Monday and was now diagnosing baby eczema. Have stuff for the bath and cream with mild steriod in it. Tonight was the first night with new bath water - no bubbles, which may have been irritating his skin. Our local chemist is open tomorrow so I'll pop along to see what other baby wash they have. I did wonder about the Johnsons soap and how good it really is for their skin. I used the shampoo once and my hair was so dry afterwards

They don't really need bubbles. Keep your eyes open for skin friendly products shampoo wise. I know I sound like a hairy armpitted dungarees and sandals girl but honestly your local health shop (preferably and independant one) would be a good stop next time you're passing. The staff are usually really informative and the stuff they sell are natural and don't contain irritating nasties.

It may be worth changing his washing powder to somethin like 'surcare' which you can get in sainsburys etc. just to make sure it's not adding to his problems, as I said manufacturers are always changing their recipes to a new improved version.
